How the season opens

  • The Citadel at home to start
  • Road game at Ole Miss on Sept. 12
  • In-state rivalry at Appalachian State on Sept. 19

Charlotte 49ers football opens at Jerry Richardson Stadium, then faces two tough road tests in a row. First comes a night game in Oxford. Right after that, the trip to Boone for the Appalachian State rivalry arrives with almost no recovery time.

Home dates and the next road stretch

  • Louisiana visits on Sept. 26
  • Memphis comes to town for Homecoming on Oct. 3
  • Back-to-back road games at North Texas and Temple
  • Bye week on Oct. 24

Those two home games give the roster a short break. After that, the Charlotte AAC schedule sends the 49ers on the road for consecutive weeks before the open date offers a chance to reset.

Late season and the Navy finale

  1. Friday night home game vs Tulane on Oct. 30
  2. Road trip to UAB
  3. East Carolina at home
  4. Road game at Tulsa
  5. Navy at home on Nov. 28

Tulane under the lights is one of the bigger home dates of the year. The regular season then wraps against Navy, a program with deep history no matter the records. If Charlotte qualifies for the American Championship, that game is set for Dec. 5.
